The bridge (I think that's what it's called) at 1:00 really slaps, but the mix is very very homogenized. The vocal impression is a lot like something I've been calling "Draimanization" for years now: really kind of same-y and exhausting. It didn't feel like a passion project to my ears; it felt like a dispassionate genre swap. As I listen to it back in my memory, I'm searching for ways that the genre is used to express something special that augments or transforms the original work in interesting ways-but all I remember is 'Down by the River, but metal, and also meh'.
